For almost 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for and training animals around the world, working across hundreds of species, from family pets to some of the world’s most extraordinary animals. Through it all, one thing has remained the same: my passion for helping animals live the best lives possible.

Good Piggy was created to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained along the way. Not just to teach individual behaviours or solve individual problems, but to look at the whole animal — their needs, their environment, their relationships and their quality of life.

I believe good training should be practical. It shouldn’t require complicated theories or big words to be effective. I measure success by results: an animal that understands what’s being asked of them, a human who better understands the animal in their care, and a relationship that is better for both.

Every animal is different, and the answer won’t always look the same. My job is to understand the animal in front of me, find practical solutions that work in the real world, and give the people who care for them the knowledge and confidence to continue that work.

Ultimately, it’s about something pretty simple:
helping animals and humans share a beautiful life together.

ABOUT GARETH

THE GOOD PIGGY STORY

From parrots to polar bears, echidnas to elephants, I’ve called almost every animal I’ve ever met “piggy” at some point.

It started simply as a term of affection, but somewhere along the way it became part of how I connected with the animals in my care. Big or small, familiar or extraordinary, every animal has their own personality, preferences and peculiarities — and every one of them deserves to be understood as an individual.

That idea sits at the heart of Good Piggy. There is no single way to train an animal, just as there is no single way to be an animal. Good training begins with getting to know the individual in front of you: what motivates them, what makes them feel safe, how they communicate, how they learn, and what they need to thrive.

After almost 20 years of calling animals “piggy”, it seemed only right to finally make it official.

Welcome to Good Piggy.
